The Working with Japanese blended learning Course

This three-week, “Working effectively with Japanese” blended learning course is designed for anybody wishing to improve their business communication with Japanese people. Above all, Communication is a set of codes or patterns and being able to understand the patterns of different cultures is not simple. Therefore, in this course, we’d like to give you a head start and show you how to be more effective when working with Japanese people by learning some of the cultural codes.

Is the “working with Japanese” course for you?

Do you need a contract signed? Are your emails not being replied to as quickly as you’d like? Do you have Japanese colleagues who find it difficult to speak up in meetings? Maybe you just want to learn more about Japanese communication techniques. To sum up, learn to adapt your communication to reach your goals with your Japanese counterparts.

Course Content

The course content focuses on doing business with Japanese people and specifically cultural self-awareness. Firstly, by understanding how we communicate personally we can begin to analyse how those working with us perceive us. Secondly, we interpret what message they might be filtering. Finally we try to adapt our techniques to make our message clearer. Therefore the 3 training modules are:

Module 01:

  • What is culture
  • Japan: history and today

Module 02:

  • Japan cultural values: Firstly, we look at four Japanese values and how they influence business. Consequentially, we give participants tools to “interpret communication patterns”.
  • The virtual impact: how to communicate and build trust with Japanese people effectively using technology.

Module 03

  • Write your strategy: each person analyses their own communication methods and compares them to the typical methods of Japanese people. Subsequently, they decide what they could adapt to be more effective when working with Japanese.
